ASIA

Apologies for the photos quality, they are pictures of polaroid’s. They we’re the only copies I had left..

Temple Towers at Wat Pho, Bangkok

I hear these towers are where they put the ashes of deceased monks, they get taller as time goes by.

The temple complex of Wat Pho in Bangkok is full of awesome decoration like these towers and round the corner from these is that big old golden Buddha you see on that film ‘The Beach’, it is covered with a bunch of colourful ceramic flowers – must have taken them ages!. Buddhism seems to be such a happy religion, especially when saying goodbye to their dead and dedicated.

Buddhist tree – Kathmandu

At the top of a fair few steps in Kathmandu is this tree with a shrine built into it, I’m sure it will have some Buddhist relevance but I cant find the information anywhere. If you know, please let me know in the comments đŸ™‚

What are The Streets of Asia like?

On my way up the steps to the tree, making our way to the old town square just around the corner we also saw a woman with Elephantiasis, she may have been going for some healing, its a sad and interesting disease to see, I hope she’s ok.

Pub Street – Siem Reap – Cambodia

This is a good street with very cheap beer! we met a travelling musician there who would play to feed the poor children in the alleys of the street. Here you can also buy fried insects such as scorpions and tarantulas. Don’t try to get a sneaky photo though, they’ll want you to pay for that!

Reclining Golden Buddha statue Wat Pho Bangkok

Thailand’s biggest reclining golden Buddha statue is in Wat Pho, same place as where the Temple Towers are that I wrote about earlier. This is the Buddha you see Leonardo Dicaprio next to on ‘The Beach’. It is absolutely massive! The picture still doesn’t do it justice.

Old Town Kathmandu

This is the old town in Kathmandu Nepal, its all an old town really but this bit is older and better.
Tip: If you ask a Tuc Tuc driver nicely they may take you to places most tourists don’t get to go, make sure you tip them if they do.

But you’ll find that most of them will just take you to places you don’t want to go before they drop you off like a suit shop they have been payed to take you to.

Rent a bike on the edge of town (wouldn’t recommend the busy centre) and go out to see fields like this! either that or book a tour. There are plenty of cooking courses where they will take you to fields like this for a tour and a cooking session.

The streets of Kathmandu – beautiful – the people are brilliant also
Sacred Monkey Forest – Ubud Bali

I definitely recommend this, there are loads of monkeys but make sure you have had your rabies jab if you are going to let them climb over you. If not, you can avoid them and still enjoy the place.

The temple off tomb raider – Cambodia.
